2017 Annual Conference
October 13-14, 2017
503 N. Pine
We have been in a period of crisis with our mental health system for a number of years. We have grown accustomed to being in a state of crisis. It’s important that we not accept this state of affairs as normal.
The solutions to resolve our crises have been detailed in report after report. Some modest actions have been taken and others are in the pipeline, but more significant structural changes to our treatment systems are not getting the attention they deserve.
The crises of our mental health system call individuals living with mental illness and their family members to be courageous in exercising leadership to support recovery and to change systems to better serve our needs. We will be examining how themes of courage, heart and brain strengthen our work around peer support, education and advocacy to reach Kansans in need and to bring them into the NAMI family.
